Colleen Marcello Brecker, Music Director

The Springville Community Chorale has been extremely fortunate to have had Colleen Marcello Brecker as its Music Director since 2017.

Mrs. Brecker received her Master of Vocal Pedagogy and Performance from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. Colleen has performed in off-Broadway musical theatre and in professional opera productions in New York City and New Jersey. Her favorite roles include “Gretel” (Hansel and Gretel), “Margie Frake” (State Fair), and “Hodel” (Fiddler on the Roof).

Colleen is a frequent area soloist. She has performed with the Buffalo Chamber Players (Wagner’s “Traume”), and in Opera Sacra presentations of The Dialogues of the Carmelites and Suor Angelica. On the concert stage she has performed as the featured soprano soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus and the Vocalis Chamber Choir. Additionally, Colleen has been a featured soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Robert Franz (West Side Story) and Marvin Hamlisch.

When Colleen is not singing before Western New York audiences or leading the Springville Community Chorale, she is busy running her family’s childcare locations and enjoying time with her husband, Jeff, and her daughter, Madeline.

Doris Jones, Accompanist

Accompanying has always been an important part of Doris Jones’ life and the Springville Community Chorale has had the great fortune of her experience and talent since 2002 as accompanist. Ms. Jones started accompanying her high school chorus in eighth grade and accompanied her county’s All-County festivals. She accompanied several students as they prepared solos for NYS School Music Association (NYSSMA) ratings. This continued in college where she had several students who asked for her skills as they prepared for their recitals. As she began her teaching career at Gowanda Central School, she again accompanied many students in their preparation for county and NYSSMA ratings. Ms. Jones taught Elementary Music and was the Director of the Junior High Chorus for 33 years. Ms. Jones also accompanied the high school musicals at Gowanda Central School for 15 years where she was the “orchestra”.

For the past five years, Ms. Jones has been the Musical Director for musical productions at the Springville Center for the Arts. Those productions include Annie, The Music Man, The Sound of Music, The Addams Family and Two By Two. In the fall of 2024, Ms. Jones will continue as Music Director for Springville Center of the Arts’ production of Fiddler on the Roof.

About accompanying, Doris has remarked, “I find great satisfaction in being a supporting component instead of a soloist. It’s a totally different skill.”
